Afgelopen week overleed op 27 oktober Lewis Allen ‘Lou’ Reed. Hij werd 71 jaar. Eind jaren ’60 werd hij bekend met de band The Velvet Underground. In 1970 verliet hij deze groep om daarna een solocarrière op te bouwen. In 1972 verscheen de single Walk On The Wildside, die op deze avond centraal stond in de minimix. Het is een opvallend nummer. De hit was zowel een groet aan en als een sneer naar homo’s en transseksuelen die in de jaren zestig Andy Warhols Factory bezochten. Bij radiostations viel de tekst van het lied niet altijd in goede aarde met als gevolg dat de single deels werd geboycot.

De minimix was een herhaling op verzoek. Het is een echte ’90’s minimix en dat paste op deze avond, omdat ook de twee uren van In The Mix gewijd waren aan de de jaren ’90. Deze minimix werd eerder uitgezonden op achtereenvolgens 1991-11-29, 2001-12-01, 2004-06-04, 2006-12-29 en 2009-08-29.

De twee uren van In The Mix waren op deze avond gewijd aan de jaren ’90 en doen terugdenken aan de oude ‘old school Grandmixen’. Elke track duurt namelijk maar zo’n 30 seconden. Het eerste uur bevat de tracks 1-35 van CD1 en 1-23 van CD2 van Grandmix 90’s Edition. Hier volgen die tracklist:
